Day 7 of yet another Detox/Cleanse. I seem to like challenging myself, every now and then I feel it's time for a cleanse. If I've been eating badly or feeling down, I know that by having a break from food I can raise my energy levels and mood to such a degree it amazes me!

So this time I thought I'd try the Master Cleanse, well after 3 days of just the lemonade concoction, I felt weak, sad and not myself! Not the result I was looking for, so I added in the fresh veg juices, which in my mind now is the only way to properly cleanse. You're not starving your body, but rather giving the digestive system a break and allowing your body to focus on cleansing and healing. Needless to say, I'm feeling great. Started with raw soups yesterday instead of just juice and yes, life is peachy!
I had the most awesome time yesterday sculpting with clay in a group workshop led by one of SA's top ceramic artists, Ann Marais. It felt so good to get back to my art and my creativity. I've neglected it for far too long. So I've signed up for a weekly pottery class, I've also bought some canvases with the intention of doing some painting, full of colour and YAY, feeling happy with life. This is Alfred, but he likes to be called Fred.
Today I made this gorgeous soup, feeling very inspired in all aspects of my life at the mo... Lets just hope this continues... It's raw and loaded with green goodness!
Raw Spinach & Broccoli Soup
+- 100g Broccoli
2 large handfuls Baby Spinach
4 medium Courgette / Zucchini, grated
100g Mushrooms, quartered
1 red onion, roughly chopped
1 large clove garlic
half green chilli, deseeded or not... depending on heat factor
1 pint / 750ml hot water
good glug of olive oil
5/6 sundried tomatoes, chopped
juice of 1 orange
salt & pepper
pumpkin & sunflower seeds
Place mushrooms in hot water and gently simmer for a couple minutes. Meanwhile, place broccoli, spinach, onion, garlic, chilli, seasoning and olive oil in Vitamix/blender. Start off slowly while adding hot water, then turn on high and blitz for several seconds till nice and smooth.
Pour into a big bowl and add grated zucchini, sundried tomatoes, orange juice and mushrooms.
Sprinkle with seeds and serve!
De-lish!!
